Since the summer 2021, travelling from the UK to France has been made much simpler for travellers who have been fully vaccinated.

Effectively, if you are fully vaccinated and traveling to France, you only need to provide proof that you are fully vaccinated. You do not need to provide a negative test before travelling, nor do you need to carry out a test after arrival in France, nor do you need to isolate upon arrival.

If you are travelling with your children who are 12 to 18 years old, if they have not been vaccinated, they need to carry out a Covid-19 test prior to departure (it can be a PCR test or a cheaper antigen test which must not be more than 24 hours). They do not need to do any additional tests, nor would they need to isolate upon arrival.

Children below the age of 12 do not need to carry out any test and can travel with their parents freely.

It is important to note that to be considered fully vaccinated, you must have had your second injection at least one week prior to your departure date to France.

If you are not fully vaccinated, you must:

  • carry out a covid-19 test prior to departure (it can be a PCR test or a cheaper antigen test which must not be more than 24 hours);
  • isolate upon arrival;
  • and can only travel for urgent reasons

All travellers (except children below the age of 12) must provide a declaration on their honour that they do not have any Covid-19 symptoms and have not been in contact, within the last 14 days before travelling, with someone who has tested positive to Covid-19.

The declaration can be found here  https://www.interieur.gouv.fr/Actualites/L-actu-du-Ministere/Attestation-de-deplacement-et-de-voyage you can download, print and sign it.

Up until the beginning of October, fully vaccinated travellers coming back from France to the UK had to carry out a Covid-19 test (a PCR test or an antigen test) before travelling and had to do a PCR test on day two of their arrival.

They also had to fill in a passenger locator form.

The same applied to children travelling with fully vaccinated parents.

If you were not fully vaccinated when travelling back from France, you had to carry out a Covid-19 test (a PCR test or an antigen test) before travelling and had to do a PCR test on day two and eight of your return in the UK and isolate for ten days.

Since the beginning of October this has changed, fully vaccinated travellers no longer need to take a Covid-19 test prior to returning to the UK, and since the end of October they only need to take an antigen test (non-NHS). Passengers can then simply send a photo of the result of their test. If you are not fully vaccinated when travelling back from France, the changes above do not apply to you, you still have to carry out a Covid-19 test (a PCR test or an antigen test) before travelling and have to do a PCR test on day two and eight of your return in the UK and isolate for ten days.
